WHY IS THE TRAINING ROBOT NEEDED?
FOR PATIENTS TO MAINTAIN AND REGAIN THEIR STRENGTH FOLLOWING A PERIOD OF ILLNESS OR AN ACCIDENT
It is important to exercise against some kind of resistance in order to maintain the patient’s muscle mass and functions as much as possible during hospitalisation. The training robot Atlin® is a training robot developed in Denmark which can be used for efficient but gentle training by bedridden patients and other people with limited possibilities for physical activity. This means that the patients are able to move, place strain on and exercise their joints and muscles from the first day in the hospital bed. The result is a reduced loss of muscle mass and therefore a faster and better rehabilitation process.
The interactive Atlin® training robot is used for exercise for those patients who are unable to use conventional training equipment. Conventional training equipment is suitable for mobile people but not for weak patients who are confined to their beds.
BALANCED, EFFICIENT AND GENTLE
Through technological innovation and for this specific purpose we have managed to develop a training robot that combines balanced, efficient and gentle exercise of the bedbound patient.
The nursing staff is able to track developments and improvements for each patient because the robot is equipped with a computer that handles large amounts of data on the patient’s condition and on training developments. In this way, both patients and nursing staff can easily see how optimal training affects the bedbound patient.
Atlin® training robot is not only a gain for the patients. Seen from a health economics perspective the training robot carries a great potential because the patients can return to their everyday life quicker and in a better condition.
